Christopher Kaine Story:

Who?
Artist. Creator of comics and graphic novels with some work freelancing.

Why?

I fell in love with comics as a kid. Always been drawing. I remember as a 4 yr old in Jackson Heights drawing in the back of a bedtime nursery rhyme book.
My grandfather once showed me how to make cartoons flipping a pad of paper. It blew my mind and i fell in love. I must've made hundreds of little stories. Lots of GI Joe and transformer ones. I wish I still had them but I remember how detailed I was with the transformations. Wheeljack was my favorite. Step by step. Arms tucking back. Head collapsing in. Wish I still had them. Shit.

What else?

I started drawing my own comics way back in 86. Just fold up some copy paper, staple the sides and start drawing. I never really had a plan. Just start drawing and see where the story went. I had a lot of shitty stories. My friends loved them and I’m sure they were ok for my age but still. I’d have crossovers with Marvel characters all the time and make them look really bad. I don’t mean artistically I mean personality. Spider man was a huge asshole in my little comics universe. So was Wolverine and Mr. Fantastic. My characters also stole their girlfriends and wives all the time. Sue Richards was madly in love with my flagship character, Crusher. ( which was me.)

And?

I started the Destructors with only one issue in mind. I showed the comic to my bud in Queens and he pleaded with me to do one with his character. I did. The character we came up with for him was Demolisher. A total Iron man rip off but still really cool. To introduce how badass he was we had Wolverine take a stab at him. Bad move, Logan. His claws shattered to pieces!
( man, I was REALLY disrespectful of these Marvel guys back then. Sorry Stan and Jack.) After that I just kept turning them out. I had different volumes, spinoffs, Mini series, Graphic novels. I even had Price guides! Destructors #2 is worth more than #1 because it’s ‘rare’. Ha!
